WORLD LINKS
Our Christian Family extends far beyond our parish in Montrose and Ferryden. We support and regularly hear about many Christian organisations who work worldwide to bring the good news of Jesus and and the love of God in practical ways to our needy and often persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. You can learn more about them by clicking on the logos below.

Tearfund works in 50 of the world’s poorest countries using methods which are distinctive. It works through Christian partners, usually the churches, who know the poor and their needs best. And it works mainly by giving people the skills and knowledge they need to help them to identify and solve the problems which are keeping them in poverty. It also works with governments to help them develop countrywide improvements and is at the forefront of disaster emergency work.
The congregation has supported Tearfund for over 40 years. Most recently it has partnered with Eagles Relief and Development in Malawi, the world’s fourth poorest country. Contact Edith Fraser, Tearfund Rep, to find out more..
Open Doors is an organisation which supports Christians who are persecuted for their faith. It was started by Brother Andrew in the 1950s when he began smuggling Bibles in to countries behind the Iron Curtain. Since that time it has grown to support Christians in many countries around the World.
Contact Anne Tulley the Open Doors Rep to hear more about this important work.
MAF - Mission Aviation Fellowship is a Christian organisation that flies small aircraft to remote communities, bringing practical and medical aid and sharing the love of Jesus.
Their motto is Flying for Life and they have been operating since the end of World War II. They assist numerous other charitable organisations, both Christian and secular and are often the only people flying in the areas they cover.
Di Millar, the MAF Rep passes on prayer requests and raises awareness of this organisation. Contact her for more information.
COMPASSION UK - “Releasing children from poverty in Jesus name”.
Compassion is a Christian charity which shows every child that they matter by linking them with one sponsor whose support gives them hope and a future through a Christian education.
As a sponsor you can support one of over 110,000 children currently under the Compassion UK umbrella. You support them financially (less than £1 per day), you support them prayerfully and you support them by writing letters of encouragement which are translated into their birth language and read to the child and their family. In turn you receive regular updates regarding your sponsored child’s health, their continued education and their family circumstances.
Each child can be supported by an individual, a couple, a family, a class teacher, a church or a Sunday School/church group.
The focus of Compassion UK is all about the Child and fighting poverty. Ken Linton is the church rep for answers to your questions.
