It's been a Year - By Kate Duncan

It’s been a year.
A year since the world and life as we know it changed.
A year of deaths, a year of unemployment, a year of redundancies and furloughs.
A year of boredom, sadness, loneliness and grief.
A year of exasperation, bankruptcy, debt and worry.
A year of depression, anxiety, scepticism and doubt.
A year of at home workouts, working from home, homeschooling and gaining weight. A year of suicides.
A year that families have not been allowed in each other’s homes.
A year of seeing other humans as potential carriers rather than God’s children, fellow humans.
A year of having conversations 2 metres apart.
A year of sterilising any surface anyone else may have touched.
A year of hand sanitizer!
A year of bringing families closer, for good or for bad.
A year of time!
A year of slowing down and getting back in touch with the world around us.
Yes. Things have changed. Things always do change. You just have to study history to know that.
But......we have something to cling onto. Something to hold onto. Something that will never change, as we are told countless times through His word -
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” ~ Hebrews 13:8
“For I, the Lord, do not change” ~ Malachi 3:6
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” ~ Isaiah 40:8.
We can place ALL our hope in Him and in His Word. We can live by it, no matter what’s going on in the World around us. We can rejoice in this! Hallelujah! Take hope, friends and have faith! Hold tight onto Him while the carousel of the world turns round!
