Got an Idol? by - Kate Duncan

“Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love.” ~ Jonah 2:8

What is your idol?

Is it coffee?

Is it financial stability?

Is it ice-cream?

We may not think we worship these things, but if we turn to anything which is not God first, in times of distress or for comfort, that thing is replacing God.

Is it a glass of wine?

Is it shopping?

Is it Facebook?

For some people, it really is other Gods, or glorifying the human race or worshipping God’s Creation.

Is it human relationships?

Is it your family?

Is it your body?

Open your Bible as a first response to every situation. Pray. Go to church. May your need for God’s word be as much as your need for coffee.

Feeling his steadfast love is worth detoxing from caffeine for!

“Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry” ~ 1 Corinthians 10:14
